Brand & Marketing Strategist

Nadine helps founder-led businesses and SMEs build stronger, more meaningful brands through clearer thinking, deeper insight and more effective strategy.

She works across positioning, brand strategy, marketing strategy, competitor and audience evidence, messaging and strategic review. Her role on an engagement is to turn a complicated business problem into a clear set of strategic decisions the business can actually use.

Strategy is useful when it makes the next decision clearer.

Profile

Closing the gap between what a business has built and what people understand.

Many of the businesses Nadine works with are excellent at what they do but lose customers, opportunities or pricing power to competitors who communicate more clearly. Her work is to define who the business serves, the value it offers and why the right customers should choose it, then turn those decisions into language the business can use consistently.

She works with founders at two moments in particular. The first is at the start, when positioning, naming and tone of voice set the direction for everything that follows; that is how she built hushri, from positioning to launch. The second is established businesses whose growth has slowed and whose brand no longer reflects the quality of what they deliver. In both cases she shapes the strategy and the blueprint, ready for the client’s chosen creatives to bring to life.

Nadine leads every engagement she takes on. The consultant a client briefs is the one who does the work and signs it.

Education

Nadine graduated as a mature student in 2025 with an Upper Second-class (2:1) BA (Hons) Business Management (Marketing) from The Open University. The 360-credit degree included business management, understanding customers, strategic management, marketing in action, leadership and shaping business opportunities.

Professional membership

Her professional application for Associate Membership of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (ACIM) was approved in 2025. The Chartered Institute of Marketing describes ACIM badge earners as capable of providing solid strategic and tactical direction.

Legal study

Her academic path began with a Certificate in Legal Studies from The Open University and two years of study towards an LLB at the University of Greenwich, before she moved to business and marketing. That study built the evidence, interpretation and structured reasoning she applies to strategic work.

Judgement and AI

AI can generate strategic options quickly. Nadine assesses their evidence, relevance and commercial strength before making a recommendation, so every recommendation rests on her judgement and can withstand commercial scrutiny.

Specialisms

  • Brand strategy and positioning
  • Marketing strategy
  • Competitor and audience evidence
  • Messaging and narrative
  • Strategic review and diagnosis

Approach

Evidence first. Clear judgement. Practical direction.

Nadine uses structured analysis to establish what the evidence supports, then makes the strategic choices explicit. The output is documented so internal teams and external partners can work from the same direction.

Principles

  • Brand before marketing. Establish who the business is for and why it is worth choosing before adding marketing activity.
  • Clarity before visibility. Reach amplifies what is already there, so the message comes first.
  • Strategy before execution. Design, copy and campaigns express a decision already made.
  • Judgement directs generation. AI produces options; commercial judgement decides which can hold up.

hushri: building a brand from positioning to live product

A calm, plain-English resource helping noise-sensitive people and their families understand and manage sound.

The work
Positioning, naming, tone of voice, content architecture, SEO and website direction.
The decision
Present practical support without positioning the brand as a clinical service.
What it proves
One coherent strategic idea can guide the mission, language, content and digital experience.
01

Previous independent client work · Retail · Lingerie e-commerce

Naming and positioning a premium online boutique

The same dropshipped stock was available to many competing resellers using identical product photography.

The decision
Compete on perceived value through naming, premium positioning and European manufacture.
The reasoning
When stock is generic, brand perception can create preference and protect price.
The outcome
The boutique charged more than rivals and became one of the strongest-performing shops for that stock within its first year.

Previous independent client work · Independent jewellery

Sourcing materials for an independent maker

Wendy needed reliable suppliers for authentic semi-precious beads and findings across precise metal tiers.

The work
Supplier identification, specification development and supplier outreach.
The judgement
The materials were part of the finished brand promise, not a generic procurement exercise.
Client feedback
“Very professional with superior communication… conscientiously made sure I had everything to my satisfaction.”

03

Previous independent client work · Hospitality · Restaurant group

Aligning a restaurant brand inside and out

A British Indian restaurant group had plateaued and delivered inconsistent experiences across London and Birmingham.

The decision
Align customer touchpoints, uniforms, benefits and training so staff could deliver the same promise.
The reasoning
External consistency rarely holds unless the people delivering it understand and believe in it.
The outcome
The brand became more recognisable across both cities, with growth in sales and repeat custom.

Consultancy client work · B2B · Social care consultancy

Refining an overextended service proposition

The consultancy offered too many services, quoted every job individually and lacked a clear centre.

The decision
Define the best-fit client, narrow the service range and remove job-by-job proposition building.
The reasoning
Positioning is as much about what the firm declines as what it offers.
The outcome
The firm now leads with a focused set of services built around the clients it is best placed to serve.
